991 Articles Left
Wow, I think it’s been about a week or so since my last post. I would apologize, but it really wasn’t my fault!!
As you may or may not know, Ezinearticles is awesome, but they aren’t exactly lighting fast. It seems they keep getting more busy by the day, and rightfully so. I’ve experienced a few minor vicotories in the past week. No sales, but you’ll see what I mean:
So, I have 9 article submitted so far (long way to go for 1000, eh?), however, one of those nine articles in particular has performed beyond my expectations. See below:

The ones that are blacked out are 4 articles that I submitted a while back, so they don’t count for this project.
Anyway, notice the top article there? It got some awesome traffic, and was listed on the front page of Google for it’s keyword, and still is! It was an article about the “Benefits Of Eating Bananas“, and I can’t help but take note at the tremendous amount of URL clicks compared to the others. I used the same resource box for the fruit related articles, so this clearly proves that the quality of the article may play a part in the amount of clicks you get. For the top article, it seems that it gained a roughly 13% CTR, with the second one right at 10%. Not bad. The third one is also sitting at around 10%, but hasn’t received near as much action.
Other Notes
I was approved for Basic Plus - which is another 25 submissions. Reason being? A long time ago (like over a year ago), I submitted a few PLR articles (I didn’t know any better at the time), and I got dinged for it. So I need to make these next 25 submissions flawless so that I can obtain Platinum next time around!
Other than that, I’m going to get busy with some more articles and try to blast through those 25 by the weekend, so stay tuned!

What a joyous occasion (insert sarcasm here). Ezinearticles finally approved the first article of this experiment.
Finally!
It’s been live for about 12 hours, and it’s received 40 views and 5 URL clicks (12.5% CTR), which ended up leading to 2 hops from my landing page. No sales occurred.
Hey, it’s a start, right?
No sales to report, of course, but hopefully that will change in time. I’m fairly confident in my ability to write a catchy resource box, so getting people to the site shouldn’t be a problem. Let’s just hope that when they get there, that they pull out their wallets!
That’s all for now, if they follow any kind of schedule, I should see more approvals tomorrow, unfortunately, the next round of articles probably won’t get approved until next week (I’m assuming they don’t work on weekends), so not until next week will we actually see any real action.
Anyway, if you’re reading this, thanks for checking in, and this should get more exciting in the coming weeks and months ahead (I hope!).
Until next time…

So day two is here and almost over - I’m waiting on two things to happen at this point:
1. For Ezinearticles to approve my pending articles.
2. The option to upgrade to either basic plus or platinum.
I managed to get 7 articles pumped out today, and probably another few more before I call it a night, so I’ll have plenty ready to submit as soon as the option becomes available to do so.
I’m covering many different niches, mainly as a test to see which ones show potential. As soon as I see something working, I’ll pound it until it’s milked dry.
Other than that, nothing else new today!
Stay tuned…

Today was the first day of submissions for my experiment, and I managed to get eight articles submitted! Some were done very early in the morning, and the others were done late at night. Those seem to be my best and most creative working hours
Not much to report yet, as I’ve reached the 10 article limit in my ezinearticles account - so I’ll have to see what they approve me for next (either platinum, or basic plus). I would like to get platinum of course, but anything would be good at this point. I just want to be able to submit more articles!
By the way, none of the articles are live yet, but I would like to try and keep a steady flow of submissions, so that I’ll constantly have articles being approved.
I’m on to some pretty good niches (competitive ones, but good), and I can’t wait to start funneling some traffic to the blog they’re pointing to!
That’s all for now.
Stay tuned…

Thanks to those who caught the attention of my post on DP - I appreciate you being interested in my journey!
Couple things to note today:
1. Got my mother on board, which is awesome, because she has an LMSW, and is a Communications Specialist - so she’s able to pump out articles about things that I wouldn’t have the much desire in (social work, depression, family issues, communications related subjects, etc…) So she should prove to be an invaluable source. With the tracking mechanisms Clickbank has in place, it will be fun to see which articles are bringing more views and hops.
2. I got a blog set up today which will provide most of my landing pages. I wanted a clean look, (just like this one), so I picked a very clean template that has 1 sidebar, and a lot of elegant whitespace, so not to distract any readers that click through to it from my articles. I don’t want ANY distractions (that means no Adsense, or any of that crap either). My goal (obviously), is to have them read article –> click resource box link to my blog –> Read gentle and light sales page which leaves them hanging –> click through to affiliate (who hopefully has a decent enough sales page to close the deal).
Yeah, it seems like a lot of clicks, but if they get as far as the affiliates landing page, then I’m quite sure that they’re ready to buy a solution to whatever problem they have. I can always adjust if I don’t see any progress. Perhaps you guys have some ideas too?
Anyway, after I got all of that setup, I submitted an article to EA, but tomorrow marks the official launch day.
I’ll be cranking out material like a maniac!
My mother who is helping, works full time, but an extra article here and there from her will definitely help the cause (especially since it’s free!) - god bless her! I made her promise that if this goes well and generates a good revenue stream, that she would quit her job and team up with me…we’ll see!
Otherwise, just cross your fingers, and watch me as I go!
I’ll report revenue and stats as needed, as well as any significant happenings throughout the journey.
Right now, I’m going to close, and go look for some sort of a cool countdown widget that I can use to mark the amount of articles submitted. I think that would be cool for people to see.
Until next time!

I’ll open with a quote:
“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” - Robert Collier
The quote above couldn’t be more true in the journey that I’m about to begin, and I hope to have you all follow with me!
If you couldn’t guess from the title of this blog, as well as the title of the post - I’m getting ready to start a massive bum marketing campaign - with an end goal of having 1000 live articles which *hopefully* will earn a comfortable, passive income for a long time to come. Pretty exciting, eh?
The term, “Bum Marketing”, was coined by Travis Sago of Bum Marketing Method. When Travis released his free bum marketing course, it took the IM world by storm, as it gave even the greenest of internet marketers a chance to make real money, using simple, yet proven strategies. I can’t imagine what kind of list Travis has at his disposal - but props to him for setting fire under some of our lazy asses to get something done. Of course, there have been many more bum marketing/article marketing reports releases since, but Travis definitely established himself as the expert in the field - so he’s still considered the king of BM.
When I first saw the report several months ago, I was excited to get going. I wanted to start bum marketing and really make some extra cash! Unfortunately, work and family life got in the way, and it never happened.
I’m skilled in other areas of internet marketing, but bum marketing was always a voice in the back of my head - from the first day I read about it.
Now that I work from home, I decided that I have absolutely zero excuses not to have a go at this, and I concluded that not only will I try my hand at it - but I’ll go all out!
My goal?
To get 1000 articles submitted to various directories, which link back to some type of affiliate product I’m referring (bum marketing, if you don’t already know, can be summed up by this sentence).
Internet Marketing is just like any other form of sales - everything is a numbers game. The more numbers you have, the more sales/commissions/deal/leads you stand to obtain. One thousand articles sounded like a good starting point for a few reasons:
1. It’s a lot of articles, but definitely not impossible.
2. It’s catchy and memorable.
3. It will provide a great case study for aspiring bum marketers.
4. It actually stands a chance at providing a long term, healthy revenue stream.
Overall, even though it will probably be a tiring journey, I think it will be a load of fun, especially if others who are interested in bum marketing contribute tips, tricks, and little hints that they’ve discovered along the way, just like I plan on doing. Growing a massive community around this is high up on the priority list for me, because if I can do this successfully, than anyone can!
Writing 1000 articles may sound crazy to some, and hell, it even sounds somewhat crazy to me as a writer. But, that’s okay! Again, I think it’s a fantastic number which will really allow us to gauge the overall effectiveness of bum marketing.
To write 1000 articles, it would require x amount of articles per day. The “x” is something I haven’t figured out yet, simply due to the fact that I’m not sure what kind of timeline I want to give myself for this.
I don’t want it to be too long, but on the other hand, I’m realistic, and I know other things do come up, even when you’re not tied to work.
Five articles a day would put me at 1000 in 200 days. Honestly, 200 days (roughly 5.5 months?), is a bit too long. I would really like to see 1000 articles done in no longer than 3 months, preferably 2.
Again, crazy, right?
Maybe not so much…
You see, one thing that the gurus will teach you is to make “outsourcing” a part of your plan. I’ve outsourced many things, and I still do to this day.
So the kicker is, let’s say at the end of this upcoming month I’ve managed to get out 250 articles. I’m quite sure by that time that I’ll be seeing some revenue - not sure how much, but it’ll be something. I’ll then use that money to outsource x amount of articles, so I can get them submitted right away. Make sense?
I know the term “bum marketing” was coined because it’s a way for even those with no investment money to get started, but I’ll be using money made from my initial blast to fund the remainder of the campaign. If it all plays out like I think it will - this very well could be a huge success!
250 articles in 31 days is roughly eight articles per day. I don’t see a problem with this, and I’m sure some days I’ll be burnt out, so I’ll have to make that up on other days. No one said this would be easy, and I don’t plan on it being easy. But I can assure you that once the first sales start coming in - it will be a hot motivator to really kick it into 5th gear!
Right now, I’m definitely going to be submitting a bulk of the articles to EzineArticles.Com, as they’re still one of the favorites in Google’s eyes, so it would be silly not to. I will also take advantage of GoArticles.Com, as well as SearchWarp.Com (I’ve heard good things about them). If anyone else has any recommendations, by all means let me know.
One thing that I’m a little up in the air about is the method of linking. I know that for the good directories, you obviously can’t link to an affiliate page directly (even within your resource box), so you have to link to a “friendly” page, which in turn links to the affiliate/product page you’re promoting.
Right now, I’m thinking about using Squidoo as my funnel, and Hubpages (I don’t know a lot about Hubpages yet…but I hear it’s been used with success). If I use Squidoo, I have the possibility of having hundreds of lenses set up for all kinds of niche markets, which will provide additional revenue streams.
Folks, I’m looking for guidance on this one…I’m really not sure how I want to do it yet. I’ve also considered using Blogger.Com blogs, because I know from personal experience that they be ranked quite well in a fairly short amount of time.
What do you think? I’m open for suggestions.
So, that should give you a break down of what my goals are and why I’m attempting this. I know there have been quite a few of these types of public quests, but I can’t think of one that finished or succeeded (at least not publicly mentioned ones). I want to change that, and give the world a play-by-play update on my progress.
If you have any questions, feel free to use the contact form to get in touch with me, and I’ll do my best to get back to you as quickly as possible.
Thanks for joining me on this quest - it should be fun, to say the least!!
